She’s an award-winning novelist who will be at the Jewish Public Library on Sunday for two talks. Hear her in Hebrew at 2 p.m., when she’ll speak with Osnat Ita Skoblinski, Israeli poet, journalist and photographer living in Montreal. The topic? Language, writing in Hebrew, and about Tsabari’s choice to write in English and the process of translating her book into Hebrew.
Tsabari’s debut story collection is The Best Place on Earth, which details the complex emotional lives of women (often from Jewish communities) from Canada to Israel to India. She will also examine what makes Israeli literature Israeli.
Later in the day, at 7 p.m., hear her in English. She will be in conversation with Joseph Rosen, a writer and professor based in Montreal’s bagel district, Mile End. They will discuss Tsabari’s The Best Place on Earth.
It all happens at 5151 Côte-Ste-Catherine Rd., Montreal. Admission for the Hebrew lecture is $7 for members/students and $12 general. The English lecture at 7 p.m. is free, but reservations are required. Call 514-345-6416.
