The Rougemont region of Quebec is holding the first of its annual “Weekends Gourmands” this Saturday and Sunday. The area is home to plenty of apple orchards and cider makers, so expect tastings and guided visits along with concerts, cooking contests and exhibitions. The fun happens every weekend between Sept. 12 and Oct. 12, and it’s 30 minutes from Montreal.
Some of the tastings on offer:
At Cidrerie Michel Jodoin, for example, you can sample a cheese made with apple brandy.
Domaine Leduc-Piedimonte is offering a nibble of Rougemont sausages with McKeown cidre.
Verger Trois Pommes has a lentil soup on offer.
On the sweet side, La Pommeraie D’Or has maple-syrup apple fritters.
