If you’re a city dweller about to plant some veggies — somewhere, somehow — you’re part of a growing trend: urban agriculture.

A talk at the McCord Museum will touch on how citizen initiatives and projects by a new wave of entrepreneurs are restoring the legitimacy of urban agriculture.

Speakers will examine how the trend is shaping neighbourhoods and their identity, and how it might affect urban planning in the city.

You’ll hear:

Éric Duchemin, an associate professor at UQÀM’s Institut des sciences de l’environnement

Raquel Peñalosa, a landscape architect and president of the Americas region of the International Federation of Landscape Architects

Alexandre Beaudoin, a biologist and biodiversity adviser at Université de Montréal and the founder of Miel Montréal cooperative

The event is being put on by McCord and Héritage Montréal. It’s free, with no need to reserve, but you should show up early. Seating is limited:

It’s next Wednesday, May 11, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
McCord Museum, J.A. Bombardier Theatre
690 Sherbrooke Street W.

See details on McCord’s website and on Héritage Montréal’s website.
