What separates the best immersive experiences from the rest? Sound.
If the audio is shoddy, your project is sloggy. A five-day symposium at the Society for Arts and Technology will focus on the guts of good audio starting Tuesday.
It’s called IX, and it’s an international gathering of minds interested in immersive experiences.
Watch a video about it here.
Here’s the gist: Convincing immersive experiences are created by paying attention to:
spatial capture
procedural audio
virtual acoustics
3D listening
The event will have workshops and demonstrations covering spherical stereo image capture, head-mounted displays and mapping solutions. See what’s being achieved in the field of immersive artistic experiences, interactive design and gaming.
It all starts with a cocktail at 5 on Tuesday at 1201 St-Laurent Blvd. See the full program here. Tickets for individual workshops can be bought along with a variety of passes that cover more of the symposium. A price list is here.
