On Friday, up in the Laurentians, a full weekend of music instruction will get started. It’s called the Flash-Bach Weekend, being put on by the CAMMAC Music Centre, which is on the shores of Lake MacDonald, near Highway 327, halfway between Lachute and St-Jovite.

The centre’s mission is to offer instruction in a relaxed, non-competitive environment, and this weekend combines music with the great outdoors at its lakeside location. But the main event is a jam-packed schedule of classes and concerts for adults, judging by the schedule.
The weekend is all about Bach, with programs for choir, chamber music and recorder.
The centre offers longer courses, too, and some of those are for kids, though this weekend is for those 18 and older. But to get a sense of a day in the life of the centre, watch this video.
Accommodation is in a lodge or lake house, and meals are included. Prices this weekend for adults are $504 in the lodge ($364 for students 18 to 21 years old) or $402 in the lake house ($296 for students 18 to 21). Private rooms cost a bit extra. Click on the rates tab on the website for details.
If you don’t need accommodations, you can go for just the courses for $264 (adults and students).
This weekend’s director is Francis Colpron from Les Boréades de Montréal. The chamber-music coordinator is Corinne Bergeron. Guest choral conductor is Peter Schubert of VivaVoce, The Orpheus Singers and McGill University.
